Decoding Dyslexia - Indiana (DD-IN) is a grassroots movement of parents seeking to raise awareness about dyslexia among parents, the general public, educators, community leaders, and legislators. Believing that 1 in 5 of Indiana students are dyslexic, that ALL Indiana students deserve an excellent K-12 education, and that all teachers deserve outstanding training that prepares them for the difficult task of teaching ALL students to read well, we seek to establish a universal definition of dyslexia within our state's education code, to provide outstanding in-service and pre-service teacher training on a multi-sensory phonetic reading approach, to assure early screening and identification of at-risk students, to provide assistive technology for all at-risk and dyslexic students in both general education & special education, and to ensure the use of evidence based reading instruction and interventions in general education & special education.
